Rangers recall Jayson Megna from Hartford Wolf Pack (AHL)

A little under an hour after news broke on Derek Stepan's official injury timeline/diagnosis, the New York Rangers made a move to bring in another forward. According to the team's Twitter account, the Rangers have recalled forward Jayson Megna from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Megna was extremely impressive during the preseason earlier on in September, and as a result, he made it all the way up until the final roster cut. Since being sent down, Megna has appeared in 21 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, where he has totaled 5 goals, 7 assists, and 12 points.

The Ottawa Senators have reassigned defenseman Michael Kostka to their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Last season, Kostka played for the New York Rangers, playing seven games and logging 108 minutes of ice time, one assist, no goals, and a +/- of 1. He also played 63 games with the Rangers' AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack. He had 5 goals and 25 assists in those 63 games.

Kostka has alsop spent some playing time with the Toronto Maple Leafs (35 games in 2012-13), the Chicago Blackhawks (9 games in 2013-14), and the Tampa Bay the Lightning (19 games in 2013-14).

Kostka had been called up from Binghamton to Ottawa on November 21st.

STARS 4, WILD 3
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Tyler Seguin scored at 3:57 of overtime, and the Dallas Stars came back from a three-goal deficit to beat the Minnesota Wild 4-3 on Saturday night.

Alex Goligoski, Jamie Benn and John Klingberg scored for Dallas in the third period. Seguin, Benn and Klingberg each had one assist, and Cody Eakin had two assists.

Antti Niemi made 23 saves as the Stars won for the fifth time in six games.

Jason Pominville ended the longest goalless streak of his career with his first goal of the season, and Thomas Vanek and Charlie Coyle also scored for the Wild. Minnesota lost for the fifth time in six games.

Darcy Kuemper made 40 saves for Minnesota.

CAPITALS 4, MAPLE LEAFS 2
TORONTO (AP) — Jason Chimera had a goal and an assist, and Washington earned its fifth straight victory.

Tom Wilson, Marcus Johansson and Justin Williams also scored for the Capitals, who improved to 7-2-0 on the road and 17-5-1 overall. Braden Holtby made 32 saves.

It was the third straight loss for last-place Toronto. Peter Holland and Leo Komarov scored for the Maple Leafs, and Jonathan Bernier made 19 saves in his first start in nearly two weeks — starter James Reimer sat with a lower-body injury.

DEVILS 3, CANADIENS 2, (OT)
MONTREAL (AP) — Defenceman John Moore scored in overtime, and the Devils rallied for the road win.

Patrik Elias and Kyle Palmieri also scored for New Jersey (12-9-2). In his first career game at the Bell Centre, Cory Schneider stopped 30 shots.

Alex Galchenyuk scored twice for Montreal (18-4-3). Mike Condon made 28 saves while subbing for injured starter Carey Price.

New Jersey bounced back nicely from Friday's 3-2 loss to Montreal, when the Canadiens rallied from two goals down to beat the Devils in a shootout in the first game of their home-and-home series.

After Palmieri tied it with 22 seconds remaining in the third period, Moore beat Condon on a breakaway at 2:29 of overtime.

BLUES 3, BLUE JACKETS 1
ST. LOUIS (AP) — Scottie Upshall scored in the third period to lead St. Louis to the win.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored his 14th goal for the Blues (15-6-3), who were 3-3-2 over their last eight games. Alexander Steen added an empty-netter, and Jake Allen made 23 saves.

Ryan Johansen scored and Sergei Bobrovsky made 29 saves for the Blue Jackets (10-15-0), who had won three of four and six of their last eight.

Upshall put the Blues ahead with 13:58 remaining on a wrist shot from the edge of the left circle. The goal, assisted by David Backes, was the fourth of the season for Upshall.

OILERS 3, PENGUINS 2, (SO)
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Matt Hendricks and Jordan Eberle scored in a shootout, powering Edmonton to its first win at Pittsburgh since Jan. 10, 2006.

Hendricks deked around Penguins goaltender Jeff Zatkoff to start the shootout, and then Eberle put a quick shot between Zatkoff's legs. Oilers goaltender Anders Nilsson stopped David Perron and Sidney Crosby.

Leon Draisaitl and Lauri Korpikoski scored in the first period for the Oilers, who ended a five-game road losing streak and three-game skid overall.

After Edmonton led 2-0, Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin scored his 10th and 11th goals early in the second. The Penguins dropped their second straight and third in four games overall.

SABRES 4, PREDATORS 1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Sam Reinhart scored twice to send Buffalo to its second straight win.

Jamie McGinn and Ryan O'Reilly also scored for the Sabres, and Chad Johnson made 28 saves.

Mike Fisher had Nashville's only goal. The Predators have dropped five of their last six.

Nashville goaltender Juuse Saros made 20 saves in his NHL debut.

ISLANDERS 3, LIGHTNING 2
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — John Tavares scored a tiebreaking power-play goal in the third period, leading the Islanders to the road win.

Tavares put the Islanders ahead during a goalmouth scramble with 3:36 left. New York scored twice on the power play after entering with just two on the road this season.

Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck also scored for New York, which was coming off a 3-2 loss Friday night at Florida, a game that the Panthers won in a five-round shootout.

Alex Killorn and Anton Stralman scored for the Lightning. Steven Stamkos had two assists.

NEW YORK (AP) — Wayne Simmonds had two goals and an assist, and Steve Mason made 24 saves for the Flyers' fourth shutout this season.

Sean Couturier also scored for Philadelphia, which has won two straight. It was the Flyers' first win at Madison Square Garden since Feb. 20, 2011.

Following a strong start to the season, New York has dropped three in a row.

Antti Raanta made 31 saves for the Rangers.

Dubinsky suspended one game for check on Crosby

Columbus Blue Jackets' forward Brandon Dubinsky has been suspended for one game by the NHL's Player Safety for checking Sidney Crosby's neck during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The check came at 18:40 of the second period.

"I'm OK," Crosby said after the game. "There's always concern when it happens. Honestly, I haven't seen it so I don't know how it looked. I know how it felt. I don't know if the official saw it or not."

Dubinsky and Crosby have had a long-running feud and battled ferociously in the first round of the 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dubinsky said battling Crosby was merely part of his job.


"There's no secret. I try to play him as hard as I can," he said after the game. "That being said, I don't do anything dirty. I felt my stick ride up his back a little bit. He was kind of bent over in front but that's not the type of player I am. I'm going to try and play hard but play fair and between the whistles."

The Blue Jackets won the game 2-1.

Tampa Bay Lightning recall forward Mike Angelidis, reassign Brian Hart to Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward Mike Angelidis from the Syracuse Crunch today, Lightning vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced. Additionally, Brian Hart has been reassigned to Syracuse from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Angelidis, 30, has skated in 15 games with the Crunch this season, recording a goal and four points with 24 penalty minutes. The Crunch captain ranks third on the team for penalty minutes. Angelidis has skated in 594 career AHL games, recording 120 goals and 249 points to go along with 1,241 penalty minutes.

Hart, 22, has appeared in three games with the Crunch this season, recording two penalty minutes. During the 2015-16 season, Hart has also skated in 15 games with the Swamp Rabbits, notching six goals and one assist to go along with two penalty minutes.
