Lightning goalie Ben Bishop leaves Game 1 with lower-body injury

Statement from the Lightning website.

PITTSBURGH -- Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop was taken off the ice on a stretcher with an apparent lower-body injury in the first period of Game 1 in the Eastern Conference Final against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

Bishop, a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, was injured with 7:35 remaining in the period. It appeared that his left leg got caught underneath him when he scrambled to get back into his crease.

Bishop was taken off the ice on a stretcher. He stopped all nine shots he faced before being replaced by Andrei Vasilevskiy, who also stepped in when Bishop was injured during last year's Stanley Cup Final.

Vasilevskiy made 23 saves on 24 shots in relief of Bishop and picked up the win in relief.
