SCHENN, TARASENKO, SCHWARTZ POWER BLUES INTO FIRST PLACE IN NHL

Brayden Schenn (2-2—4), Vladimir Tarasenko (2-2—4) and Jaden Schwartz (1-3—4) each collected four points as the Blues (16-5-1, 33 points) erupted for eight goals to surpass the Lightning (15-3-2, 32 points) into first place in the NHL.

* St. Louis scored at least eight goals in a game for the first time since 2010-11 and for just the fifth time since 1997-98.

* The Blues improved to 8-2-0 at Scottrade Center this season. Elias notes that St. Louis earned eight wins through its first 10 home games of a season for the fifth time in franchise history (last in 2010-11: 8-1-1).

* Schenn extended his career-high point streak to eight games (7-12—19), the second-longest active point streak in the NHL behind the 10-game run by Calgary’s Johnny Gaudreau. Schwartz (11-19—30) and Schenn (10-20—30) share fourth in League scoring, while Tarasenko (12-14—26) shares sixth.

DID YOU KNOW?

Through 318 games this season (excluding shootout goals):

* There have been nine instances of a team scoring at least eight goals, the highest such total through the first 318 games of a season since 2005-06 (10).

* Five contests have featured a single period with seven combined goals, including four such games in the past nine days.

* Nine games have featured at least 11 combined goals in total.

BOESER HELPS CANUCKS IMPROVE TO 7-3-0 ON THE ROAD

Brock Boeser scored twice to help the Canucks improve to 7-3-0 (14 points) on the road this season. Elias notes that Vancouver earned seven wins through its first 10 road games for the fifth time in franchise history (last in 2014-15: 7-3-0).

* Boeser has scored in three consecutive games (4-0—4) and ranks second among rookies in both goals (9) and points (9-10—19; tied) this season. He became just the third Canucks rookie in the last 25 seasons to record at least one goal in three consecutive team games.
STARS IMPROVE TO 8-2-0 AT AMERICAN AIRLINES CENTER

Celebrating his 31st birthday, Ben Bishop turned aside 29 of 30 shots to backstop the Stars past the Canadiens and to an 8-2-0 (16 points) record at American Airlines Center this season. Bishop owns a 7-1-0 record on home ice in his first season with the Stars, posting a 1.32 goals-against average, .950 save percentage and one shutout in those contests. Elias notes that the Stars have allowed 1.80 goals in home games this season, the lowest such total in the NHL.

KLINBERG, PIETRANGELO REACH 20-POINT MARK

Dallas’ John Klingberg (4-16—20 in 21 GP) and St. Louis’ Alex Pietrangelo (7-13—20 in 22 GP) became the first defensemen to reach the 20-point mark this season. Via Elias:

* Klingberg required the second-fewest team games in franchise history for a defenseman to reach the 20-point mark, three shy of the mark he set in 2015-16 (18 GP).

* Pietrangelo became the first Blues defenseman to hit the 20-point mark in 22 team games or fewer since 1998-99, when Al MacInnis did so in 19 contests.

SNEAK PEEK AT WEDNESDAY’S ACTION
NHL ENTERS U.S. THANKSGIVING WITH 15-GAME SLATE

Wednesday’s schedule features 30 of the NHL’s 31 teams in action on the eve of U.S. Thanksgiving, marking the 10th time in NHL history that 15 games will be contested on the same date (second of five this season). The League-leading Blues (16-5-1, 33 points) are the only idle club. Some highlights include:

* Six games feature division rivalries: TOR at FLA, PHI at NYI, NYR at CAR, DAL at COL, SJS at ARI and VGK at ANA.

* The Blue Jackets (13-7-1, 27 points) look to push their win streak to five games when they host the Flames (12-8-0, 24 points). Sergei Bobrovsky – who has stopped 126 of the last 130 shots he has faced – has been between the pipes for each of Columbus’ four consecutive victories (4-0-0, 0.98 GAA, .969 SV%, 1 SO).

* Seven of the top-10 point producers and eight of the top-nine goal scorers will be in action.

* Four skaters enter play with a point streak of at least five games: Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau (8-11—19 in 10 GP), Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri (4-4—8 in 7 GP), Wild forward Nino Niederreiter (4-2—6 in 6 GP) and Predators forward Filip Forsberg (1-6—7 in 5 GP).

* In addition to his 10-game point streak, Gaudreau has scored a goal in six consecutive contests and has registered an assist in five straight appearances. He ranks third in the NHL with 31 points, behind the Lightning duo of Steven Stamkos (10-25—35) and Nikita Kucherov (17-16—33).
