Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan confirmed on Sunday that Matt Murray will be in net today against the Boston Bruins.

Murray has won 3 games in a row and stopped 46 of 48 in his last 2 games.

Sullivan hasn't ruled the injured Brian Dumoulin out for playing before the All-Star break. The Penguins have 2 games in between.

Mike Sullivan gets three-year contract extension

Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan signed a three-year contract extension through the 2019-20 season Monday.

Sullivan, 48, took over as Penguins coach after Mike Johnston was fired on Dec. 12, 2015. The Penguins finished the season 33-16-5 and won the Stanley Cup for the fourth time in their history with a six-game series win against the San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup Final.

"Mike did the best coaching job in the NHL last season," Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement. "He continues to be a terrific coach and we are happy to give him a well-deserved extension."

The Penguins are 22-8-5 this season, one point behind the Columbus Blue Jackets for first place in the Metropolitan Division, and play the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Tuesday (7 p.m. ET; TVA Sports, MSG-Plus, ROOT).

Team USA names Isles' Capuano, Devils' Hynes, Pens' Sullivan assistants

New York Islanders coach Jack Capuano, New Jersey Devils coach John Hynes and Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan were among five assistants named Friday to the staff of Team USA for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Nashville Predators assistant coach Phil Housley Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League coach Scott Gordon, were also named assistants to Team USA coach John Tortorella.

"I'm looking forward to working with our coaching staff in guiding the group of players that are ultimately selected to represent our country in the World Cup," Tortorella, coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets, said in a release by USA Hockey. "We have a group of coaches assembled that all bring something different to the table and that is a real positive as we move toward our ultimate goal of winning the tournament."

Hynes, in his first season as an NHL coach, has the Devils contending for their first playoff berth since they reached the 2012 Stanley Cup Final.

"We're extremely pleased with the coaching staff we've assembled," said Dean Lombardi, general manager of Team USA and the Los Angeles Kings. "It's a group that not only brings great experience on multiple levels, but is in lock step with where we're going and how we're going to get there."

The 2016 World Cup of Hockey will take place at Air Canada Centre in Toronto from September 17 to October 1.

Mike Sullivan has been named head coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins, it was announced today by General Manager Jim Rutherford.

Sullivan replaces Mike Johnston, who was relieved of his duties earlier today.

Assistant coach Gary Agnew also was relieved of his duties.

Sullivan, 47, was in his first season as head coach of the Penguins’ American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, leading his team to an 18-5 record and first place in the Atlantic Division. Sullivan was head coach of the Boston Bruins from 2003-06 and was an NHL assistant coach for eight seasons with the Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks. He spent the 2014-15 season as player development coach for the Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks.
