Samuel Hunter suspended 12 games
BOUCHERVILLE – The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended Samuel Hunter of the Rimouski Océanic for a total of 12 games. The suspension was handed out following an incident that occurred on March 7th against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
Here is the rationale that led to the decision:
- A defensemen for the Armada skated to his blue line and made a pass to his teammate.
- He was at the height of the red line in the center of the ice, in the direction of the opposing zone.
- The pass was imprecise and in his skates.
- The player at fault went towards him and hit him in the head.
- The opponent had speed when he received the puck in the skates.
- He tried to retrieve it by looking at his feet and was in a vulnerable position.
- The player at fault left his position and accelerated towards the opponent.
- From the start, he was in the opponent’s blindside and hit him directly at the head.
- The player at fault had speed and made no effort to minimize contact.
- The player at fault hit him with his arm and elbow.
- His arm was close to his body.
- This is the first offense of the player at fault.
- The opponent was injured on the play.
The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed videos of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and after consulting the Advisory Committee for disciplinary action.

Phoenix earn two crucial points thanks to Luke Green
The Phoenix seized two valuable points this Thursday night against the Saguenéens. With a 3-2 overtime victory over the Blues, Stéphane Julien's men approached only one point of the Oceanic, on whom he has a match in hand.
After Nicolas Roy broke the ice for Chicoutimi, Kevin Gilbert created the tie by escaping. Nicolas Poulin then gave the lead to the Birds by seizing his own return.
Roy scored his second of the game at the start of the third, forcing an extension. Luke Green scored his third point of the game by placing the puck behind Julio Billia.
Brendan Cregan, author of a second overtime win in as many matches, was relieved of the fruit of his 28 stops on 30 shots.
"I was so happy to see Luke score! He is one of my good friends and he had a good match offensively. It was a bit intimidating to face big cannons like Nicolas Roy and Ratelle, but we got away with the two points and honestly, that's all that counts now! "
The coach has also demonstrated his support for his goalkeeper, stressing the difficult context.
"Brendan does not play much but he gives us what is expected of him. We have two games in two evenings that are coming so I have not yet made my decision for my starting goalkeeper for tomorrow night but it is obvious that it is not easy to remove a guy who wins the net "Justifies Stéphane Julien.
