AHL suspends Syracuse forward Tye McGinn for one game

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The American Hockey League today announced that Syracuse Crunch forward Tye McGinn has been suspended for one (1) game as a consequence of an illegal check to the head of an opponent in a game vs. Belleville on Oct. 13.

McGinn was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline). He will miss Syracuse’s game today (Oct. 15) at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

AHL suspends Syracuse defenseman Jake Dotchin

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The American Hockey League today announced that Syracuse Crunch defenseman Jake Dotchin has been suspended for three (3) games as a consequence of an interference incident in a playoff game vs. Toronto on May 6.

Dotchin was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline).

With Syracuse leading two games to none, Dotchin will miss Games 3 and 4 of the teams’ North Division Finals playoff series tonight (May 9) and Wednesday (May 10), as well as either Game 5 of the series on Saturday (May 13) or Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Special teams lead Crunch to 4-2 victory over IceCaps

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch netted three power-play goals on their way to a 4-2 victory over the St. John's IceCaps tonight at the War Memorial Arena.

Cory Conacher led the team with two goals and two assists. Adam Comrie and Tye McGinn both contributed to the goal total, while Matt Peca and Erik Condra added a pair of assists each. The win gives the Crunch their 30th of the year and moves the team to 30-19-5-5. Syracuse also takes a 4-1-1-1 lead in the eight-game season series.

Goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis stopped 25-of-27 shots in victory. Charlie Lindgren turned aside 23-of-26 shots in net for the IceCaps. Special teams led the charge with Syracuse going 3-of-7 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Crunch opened scoring with 46 seconds remaining in the first period. Condra passed up to Conacher at the blue line. The forward sent the puck over to the left circle for Comrie to skate in and send home while on the power play.

Syracuse doubled their lead with another power-play goal just 1:44 into the second period. Peca sent a cross-slot feed for Conacher to one-time back door. His shot was stopped, but McGinn following behind to chip in the rebound from the left side of the crease.

The IceCaps stole one back with 7:59 remaining in the middle frame. After Gudlevskis made the save on Brett Lernout's shot from the left circle, Stefan Matteau jammed in a loose puck during a scrum.

Conacher put the Crunch back up by two before the second period came to an end. Condra sent a perfect cross-zone feed through traffic for him to redirect wide open from the left circle. Peca earned the secondary helper.

With one second remaining in the game, Conacher added an empty net goal with the help of Joel Vermin and Matt Taormina.

Lightning recall Joel Vermin and Yanni Gourde from Syracuse Crunch

TAMPA BAYThe Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forwards Joel Vermin and Yanni Gourde from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League on Monday, vice president and general manager of the team Steve Yzerman announced.

Vermin has played in five games with the Lightning this season, recording one assist. He made his NHL debut on November 19 and recorded his first point on November 21 at the Anaheim Ducks. Vermin recorded a season-high for ice time on November 21 against the Ducks with 12:22.

A native of Frauenkappelen, Switzerland, Vermin has played in 15 games with Syracuse this season, recording three goals and 11 points. He ranks tied for sixth on the team for points.

Gourde has not appeared in an NHL game. He has skated in 24 games with the Crunch this season, recording five goals and 13 points with a plus-2 rating. Gourde is tied for third on Syracuse for points and tied for fourth for goals. He led the Crunch for goals in 2014-15 with 29 and power-play goals with eight.

Lightning reassign Henri Ikonen from Greenville (ECHL) to Syracuse (AHL)

SYRACUSE, N.Y. The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned forward Henri Ikonen from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL) to the Syracuse Crunch (AHL), Crunch general manager Julien BriseBois announced today.

Ikonen, 21, has skated in three games with Greenville, tallying one goal, since being assigned on Dec. 2. He has also appeared in 17 contests with the Crunch this season, posting one goal, three assists and four penalty minutes. During the 2014-15 season, he skated in 59 games with Syracuse, earning 13 points (5g, 8a) and 43 penalty minutes. In 82 games with the Crunch since 2013, Ikonen has recorded 19 points (6g, 13a) and 49 penalty minutes.

Tampa Bay Lightning recall forward Mike Angelidis, reassign Brian Hart to Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled forward Mike Angelidis from the Syracuse Crunch today, Lightning vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced. Additionally, Brian Hart has been reassigned to Syracuse from the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Angelidis, 30, has skated in 15 games with the Crunch this season, recording a goal and four points with 24 penalty minutes. The Crunch captain ranks third on the team for penalty minutes. Angelidis has skated in 594 career AHL games, recording 120 goals and 249 points to go along with 1,241 penalty minutes.

Hart, 22, has appeared in three games with the Crunch this season, recording two penalty minutes. During the 2015-16 season, Hart has also skated in 15 games with the Swamp Rabbits, notching six goals and one assist to go along with two penalty minutes.
