Andrew Shaw to miss Game 6 with upper-body injury

NEW YORK -- Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw will not be in the lineup for Game 6 of their Eastern Conference First Round series against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Saturday (8 p.m. ET; NBC, CBC, TVA Sports) because of an upper-body injury.

Center Brian Flynn will take Shaw's spot in the lineup and is expected to center a line with Alex Galchenyuk on left wing and Paul Byron on the right. It will be Flynn's first game of the 2017 Playoffs.

Shaw was hit hard by defenseman Dan Girardi behind the Rangers' net about seven minutes into overtime in Game 5 on Thursday. He played one more shift after the hit. The Rangers won 3-2 to take a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Andrew Shaw suspended three preseason games

NEW YORK - Montreal Canadiens forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended for three preseason games for boarding Washington Capitals defenseman Connor Hobbs during NHL Preseason Game No. 21 in Montreal on Tuesday, Sept. 27, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 17:50 of the second period. Shaw was assessed a major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct.

Blackhawks' Shaw suspended one game, fined $5,000

NEW YORK -- Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw has been suspended for one game for making a homophobic slur during Game 4 of the team's first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series with the St. Louis Blues in Chicago on Tuesday, April 19, the National Hockey League announced today. Shaw has also been fined $5,000 for directing an inappropriate gesture at the on-ice officials during the same game. Shaw will also be required to undergo sensitivity training.

Both incidents took place at 17:56 of the third period. Shaw will miss Game 5 of the series on Thursday, April 21, in St. Louis.

"While Mr. Shaw was apologetic and remorseful for both the offensive comments and the inappropriate gesture directed at the on-ice officials, he must be held accountable for his actions," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. "The emotion of the moment cannot and will not be a mitigating factor for the conduct that is expected of an NHL player."

The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Blackhawks' Andrew Shaw supposedly uses racial slur

Chicago Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw is being investigated by the NHL for reportedly using a racial slur after recieving a penalty in the Blackhawks' 4-3 playoff loss to the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday.

Shaw was sent off for interference at 17:56 of the third period. Shaw pounder on the penalty box glass with his stick and supposedly yelled a racial slur towards a player on the ice.

"Being like I just said -- I'll repeat myself for you -- emotions are high," Shaw said after being asked about the incident twice. "I don't know what was said. Obviously, I was upset with the call. I wasn't happy with the call."
