Ovechkin, Pominville, Quick named our 'Three Stars of the Night'

The Neutral Zone' hockey blog has named Alex Ovechkin, Jason Pominville, and Jonathan Quick as their 'Three Stars of the Night' for all NHL games that took place on October 5, 2017.

FIRST STAR, ALEX OVECHKIN, F, WASHINGTON CAPITALS

Alex Ovechkin is the second player in Capitals history to score a hat trick in a season-opening game (Mikhail Grabovski on Oct. 1, 2013).

SECOND STAR - JASON POMINVILLE, F, BUFFALO SABRES

Jason Pominville scored twice in his return to the Sabres lineup – his first multi-goal game with the team since Mar. 2, 2013.

THIRD STAR - JONATHAN QUICK, G, LOS ANGELES KINGS

Jonathan Quick became the third Kings goalie to post a shutout in a season opener, joining Rogie Vachon (1977) and Stephane Fiset (1996, 1999).

NEW YORK -- UNB! Network NHL/hockey blog 'The Neutral Zone' has named Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Quick, and Carey Price as their 'Theee Stars of the Night' for the National Hockey League games taking place on February 25, 2017.

FIRST STAR - SIDNEY CROSBY, F, PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

Crosby scored his NHL-leading 34th goal of the season to give the @penguins a 1-0 lead in the first period outdoors at Heinz Field. The 34th goal of the season (54 GP) gets Crosby two shy of his total from 2015-16 (80 GP).

SECOND STAR - JONATHAN QUICK, G, LOS ANGELES KINGS

Quick made 32 saves in his first start since suffering a lower-body injury on opening night to backstop the Kings to a 4-1 victory.

THIRD STAR - CAREY PRICE, G, MONTREAL CANADIENS

Price earned the 259th win of his NHL career (all w/ MTL) to pass Ken Dryden (258) for third on the @CanadiensMTL all-time list.
