Lee Stempniak traded to Boston Bruins by Devils; Matteau traded to Canadiens

The New Jersey Devils today acquired Boston’s fourth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and Boston’s second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for right wing Lee Stempniak.

The announcement on the Devils side was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

In 63 games with the Devils, Stempniak had 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points.

The Devils also made another roster move on Monday, trading forward Stefan Matteau to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Devante Smith-Pelly.


Matteau was the Devils’ first round pick, 29th overall, of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. A product of the QMJHL’s Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and USHL’s U.S. National Development Team, he produced 47 points (28 goals, 19 assists) in 81 games at the junior level.

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenseman Eric Gelinas from the New Jersey Devils for a 2017 third-round pick and us now pending a trade call.

The Dallas Stars have acquired Kris Russell from the Calgary Flames and is now pending a trade call

UPDATE: Trade Confirmed - The Dallas Stars acquire Kris Russell from the Calgary Flames in exchange for Jyrki Jokipakka, Brett Pollock and a conditional 2nd round pick.

Boedker traded to the Avalanche by Coyotes

On Monday, the Colorado Avalanche acquired forward Mikkel Boedker from the Arizona Coyotes for Alex Tanguay. Connor Bleackley, and Kyle Wood.

Throughout the day, Boedker has had his name linked to several team, but he has found a new home in Colorado.

Coyotes and Penguins complete trade

The Arizona Coyotes and the Pittsburgh Penguins completed a trade on Monday before the trade deadline at 3pm ET.

Although it is small, it is still a trade.

The Coyotes acquired Sergei Plotnikov, while the Penguins acquired Matthias Plachta and a 2017 conditional 7th round pick.

Maple Leafs acquire Carrick from Capitals

The Washington Capitals, the parent club of the AHL's Hershey Bears, have acquired forward Daniel Winnik and a fifth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft (Anaheim’s selection, previously acquired by Toronto) from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Brooks Laich, defenseman Connor Carrick and a second-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced on Sunday.

Carrick, 21, registered six points (one goal, five assists) in 37 career NHL games with Washington. The 5’11”, 194-pound defenseman earned 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 47 games with the Bears (AHL) this season and has recorded 72 points (18 goals, 54 assists) in 133 career AHL games with Hershey. Carrick appeared in 10 2015 Calder Cup Playoff games with the Bears tallying four points (2-2-4) and he earned a spot on the 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic roster. Carrick was drafted by Washington in the fifth round, 137th overall, in the 2012 NHL Draft.

First Trade: Toronto Maple Leafs acquire the Washington Capitals' 2nd Round. pick in 2016, Connor Carrick and Brooks Laich for Daniel Winnik and the Anaheim Ducks' 5th Round pick in 2016.

Second Trade: New York Rangers acquire Chris Brown from Washington Capitals for Ryan Bourque.

Reimer traded to Sharks plus othe trades

James Reimer has a new home.

That new home, San Jose.

Reimer, along with Jeremy Morin were traded to the San Jose Sharks on Saturday for Alex Stalock, Ben Smith, and a conditional 4th round pick in the 2018 draft.

Other Sarurday trades include:
-- Panrhers acquire Jakub Kindl from the Red Wings for a late draft pick. Detroit will retain part of Kindl's salary.

-- Teddy Purcell traded from the Oilers to the Panthers for a third round pick.

Blackhawks make trade with Canadiens

TLhe Chicago Blackhawks announced Friday that they have acquired forwards Tomas Fleischmann (FLIGHSH-muhn) and Dale Weise (WEES) from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for forward Phillip Danault and Chicago’s second-round pick in the 2018 National Hockey League Draft.

Fleischmann, 31, has tallied 20 points (10G, 10A) in 57 games this season with Montreal. A native of the Czech Republic, Fleischmann scored five goals in November including a season-high two goals on Nov. 1 vs. Winnipeg. The forward has played in 638 career games and registered 330 points (133G, 197A). In 35 career Stanley Cup Playoffs games, he has posted nine points (4G, 5A). Currently in his 11th NHL season, Fleischmann has also spent time with Washington (2005-10), Colorado (2010-11), Florida (2011-2014) and Anaheim (2014-15). He was originally selected by Detroit in the second round (63rd overall) of the 2002 NHL Draft.

Weise, 27, has recorded 26 points (14G, 12A) in 56 games with Montreal this season; he ranks second on the Canadiens with 108 hits and has added 117 shots on goal. The Winnipeg native has posted 85 points (37G, 48A) in 314 career NHL games across six seasons with the New York Rangers (2010-11), Vancouver (2011-14) and Montreal (2014-16). He has added 10 points (5G, 5A) in 34 Stanley Cup Playoffs games. Weise was originally drafted by the New York Rangers in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2008 NHL Draft.

Danault, 23, has scored five points (1G, 4A) in 30 games with Chicago this season. He also has registered two points (1G, 1A) in six games with Rockford this season. The Victoriaville, Quebec, native appeared in two games with Chicago last year, including his National Hockey League debut on Nov. 22 at Edmonton. He was one of Chicago’s first-round selections (26th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Kings Acquire Defenseman Rob Scuderi From Chicago (for Christian Ehrhoff)

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Kings have acquired defenseman Rob Scuderi from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. To make room on the 23-man roster, defenseman Kevin Gravel has been assigned to Ontario.

Scuderi, 37, has played in 17 games with the Blackhawks this year, going scoreless.

The 6-1, 212-pound native of Syosset, New York has played for the Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Kings during his 12-year NHL career, including winning two Stanley Cups (2012 – Los Angeles, 2009 – Pittsburgh). In 762 career regular-season games he has 104 points (8-96=104), a plus-16 rating and 196 penalty minutes. Drafted in the fifth-round (134th overall) by Pittsburgh during the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, the two-time Stanley Cup champion has appeared in 117 playoff games overall. He has posted 14 points (1-13=14), a plus-18 rating and 26 penalty minutes during that time. Scuderi will wear #7 with the Kings.

Ehrhoff, 33, appeared in 40 games this season with the Kings, posting 10 points (2-8=10) and 32 penalty minutes. He was signed by the Kings as an unrestricted free agent, Sept. 4, 2015.

Defenseman Kevin Gravel has also been assigned to Ontario. He appeared in four games during his first NHL call-up, including his first NHL game, Feb. 11 at NY Islanders.

The Kings play host to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night at STAPLES Center on FOX Sports West and TalkRadio 790 KABC at 8:00 p.m.

Blackhawks acquire Ladd, Fraser and Harrison from Winnipeg

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have acquired forwards Andrew Ladd and Matt Fraser and defenseman Jay Harrison from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for forward Marko Dano, Chicago’s first round pick in the 2016 National Hockey League Draft and a conditional pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. Fraser and Harrison will both report to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Ladd, 30, was a member of the Blackhawks’ 2010 Stanley Cup championship team; he tallied 99 points (37G, 62A) in 184 regular-season games with Chicago and added 10 points (6G, 4A) in 36 playoff games. The Jets captain has registered 34 points (17G, 17A) in 59 games with Winnipeg this season, including an active three-game goal streak (4G) from Feb. 18-23; he has posted 143 shots on goal and 126 hits. The Maple Ridge, British Columbia, native registered a career-high 62 points (24G, 38A) in 81 regular-season games with the Jets last season. Ladd, who also won the Cup with Carolina in 2006, has recorded 454 points (202G, 252A) in 750 career NHL games across 11 seasons with Carolina (2005-08), Chicago (2008-10), Atlanta (2010-11) and Winnipeg (2011-16). Carolina’s first-round pick (fourth overall) in the 2004 NHL Draft, Ladd has notched 16 points (8G, 8A) in 57 career Stanley Cup Playoffs games.

Fraser, 25, has registered 14 points (5G, 9A) in 44 games with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose this season. The Red Deer, Alberta, native has tallied 17 points (11G, 6A) in 87 NHL games across four seasons with Dallas (2011-13), Boston (2013-14) and Edmonton (2014-15); he added two points (1G, 1A) in four 2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs games with Boston. He has tallied 145 points (95G, 50A) in 225 career AHL games and added seven points (5G, 2A) in 14 Calder Cup Playoffs games.

Harrison, 33, has recorded five points (3G, 2A) in 18 games with Manitoba this season. The Oshawa, Ontario, native has posted 75 points (23G, 52A) in 372 career NHL games across nine seasons with Toronto (2005-09), Carolina (2009-15) and Winnipeg (2014-15). He has added 117 points (37G, 80A) in 426 career AHL games and notched 20 points (3G, 17A) in 45 Calder Cup Playoffs games.

Dano, 21, collected two points (1G, 1A) in 13 games with the Blackhawks and added 23 points (4G, 19A) in 34 tilts with the IceHogs. The Eisenstadt, Austria, native was acquired from the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 30, 2015.

Canucks get Granlund from Flames for Shinkaruk

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning and the Calgary Flames announced Monday that the Canucks have acquired Markus Granlund from Calgary in exchange for Hunter Shinkaruk.

Granlund has split the 2015-16 season between the Calgary Flames (4-3-7 in 31 games) and the Stockton Heat (5-4-9 in 12 games). He has appeared in 86 NHL games, registering 28 points (14-14-28) and 24 penalty minutes.

Shinkaruk was drafted by the Canucks in the first round (24th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft. This season, the 21-year-old has 39 points (21G, 18A) in 45 games with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.

Maple Leafs trade Matthias to Avalanche for Colin Smith and draft picks

A trade occurred between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.

The Maple Leafs acquired the Avalanche’s fourth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and forward Colin Smith in exchange for forward Shawn Matthias.

Matthias has six goals and eleven assists in 51 games for the Maple Leafs this season, while Smith has 13 goals and 21 assists in 54 games for the Avalanche's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, this season.

Dion Phaneuf traded to Senators by Maple Leafs

The Ottawa Senators have acquired defenseman Dion Phaneuf, forwards Matt Frattin, Casey Bailey, and Ryan Rupert and defenseman Cody Donaghey from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for defenseman Jared Cowen, forwards Colin Greening, Milan Michalek and Tobias Lindberg, plus Ottawa’s second-round pick in the 2017 draft.

No salary will be retained by either team.

Blackhawks trade Garbutt to Ducks for Sekac

The Chicago Blackhawks acquired forward Jiri Sekac from the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday in a trade for forward Ryan Garbutt.

Sekac is in the final season of his contract and can become a restricted free agent on July 1.

"Probably a good opportunity for both guys," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "Get a look and probably more opportunity to play."

Ducks trade Hagelin to Penguins for Perron, Clendening

The Anaheim Ducks have traded forward Carl Hagelin to the Pittsburgh Penguins for forward David Perron and defenceman Adam Clendening.

The Ducks announced the trade Friday night after their victory over Dallas.

Hagelin had four goals and eight assists in 43 games with the Ducks. Anaheim acquired him in an off-season trade with the New York Rangers for Emerson Etem, and then signed him to a four-year, $16 million contract.

The speedy Hagelin struggled to find a scoring groove with the Ducks, who have the NHL's lowest-scoring offence by far this season.

Perron is a three-time 20-goal scorer who has only 16 points in 43 games this season with the Penguins. The physical left wing spent his first six NHL seasons with St. Louis. Pittsburgh acquired Perron from Edmonton for a 2015 first-round pick and Rob Klinkhammer last January.

Clendening has five points in 30 career NHL games.

Canucks acquire Emerson Etem from Rangers for Nicklas Jensen, sixth-round pick

The Vancouver Canucks acquired Emerson Etem from the New York Rangers on Friday for fellow winger Nicklas Jensen and a 2017 sixth-round pick.

Etem, 23, played in 19 games with the Rangers this season, registering three assists. New York had assigned him to the AHL on a conditioning stint earlier Friday before the trade was announced.

The native of Long Beach, Calif., has 15 goals and 19 assists in 131 career games with the Rangers and Anaheim Ducks.

The 22-year-old Jensen, meanwhile, never lived up to expectations in Vancouver. The 29th overall pick in 2011 has been playing in the AHL this season and has three goals and three assists in 24 career NHL games.

Canadiens trade Tokarski to Ducks or Friberg

The Montreal Canadiens traded goaltender Dustin Tokarski to the Anaheim Ducks for forward Max Friberg on Thursday.

Tokarski, 26, has split the season between the Canadiens and St. John's of the American Hockey League. In six NHL games this season he is 1-3-0 with a 3.19 goals-against average and .878 save percentage.

He was the backup to Carey Price last season but Mike Condon beat him out for that job during training camp and Tokarski started the season in the AHL.

Canadiens acquire Scrivens from Oilers for Kassian

The Montreal Canadiens acquired goaltender Ben Scrivens from the Edmonton Oilers on Monday in exchange for forward Zack Kassian.

Montreal has been in need of veteran goaltending depth in the absence of Carey Price, the reigning Vezina Trophy winner. Price has been out since Nov. 25 after he sustained his second lower-body injury of the season. The team has used rookie Mike Condon and backup Dustin Tokarski in his absence. There is no timeline on when Price will return to the Canadiens.

Scrivens, 29, was with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, but does have 129 games of NHL experience and was the No. 1 goalie for the Oilers in 2014-15, posting a 15-26-11 record with a 3.16 goals-against average and .890 save percentage. He also played for the Los Angeles Kings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. In 129 NHL games, Scrivens has a 42-56-17 record with seven shutouts, a 2.90 GAA and a .905 save percentage.

"I'm definitely happy with how things played out," Scrivens said of the trade. "Definitely happy to get a new chance and a chance to play in the NHL again."
