SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- The American Hockey League today announced that Syracuse Crunch defenseman Jake Dotchin has been suspended for three (3) games as a consequence of an interference incident in a playoff game vs. Toronto on May 6.
Dotchin was suspended under the provisions of AHL Rule 28.1 (supplementary discipline).
With Syracuse leading two games to none, Dotchin will miss Games 3 and 4 of the teams’ North Division Finals playoff series tonight (May 9) and Wednesday (May 10), as well as either Game 5 of the series on Saturday (May 13) or Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

B-Sens stun Marlies in 8-4 comeback win
TORONTO, ONT. – Trailing 4-1 in the third period, the Binghamton Senators scored seven goals for an 8-4 victory over the Toronto Marlies in front of 13,958 at Air Canada Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Kerby Rychel put the Marlies on the board in the first period during a five-on-three man advantage. Cal O’Reilly played a pass from the right side down to Rychel at the side of the crease and he jammed the puck under the pads of Chris Driedger for the 1-0 lead. The goal was Rychel’s 17th of the year with helpers from O’Reilly and Seth Griffith.
Toronto took a two-goal lead later in the opening frame. Driedger made the original save but the rebound went out to the slot where Travis Dermott fired in his fifth of the year on the secondary chance. Mike Sislo and Andreas Johnsson picked up the assists on Dermott’s goal at 12:30. Toronto held a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission and outshot the B-Sens 15-6.
Griffith converted in the second period to put the Marlies up 3-0. Jack Rodewald’s stick broke in the defensive zone and Griffith took advantage of that and fired the puck by Driedger from inside the left wing circle. The goal was Griffith’s fifth of the season from Brett Findlay and Andrew Nielsen at 9:07 of the middle frame.
Binghamton answered back after a faceoff win by Nick Paul. In the left wing circle, Paul pulled the puck back to defenseman Chris Carlisle who played a shot through traffic and beat goaltender Antoine Bibeau for his third of the year. Paul picked up the only assist on the goal at 10:01 of the second.
Sislo took advantage of another power play to get Toronto’s three-goal lead back later in the period. Sisle teed up a one timer from the left wing circle and beat Driedger on his right side for the 4-1 lead with 3:13 left in the second. Griffith and O’Reilly had the assists and Binghamton trailed 4-1 after two periods. Toronto held the shot advantage 24-16.
Trailing 4-1, Binghamton erupted for seven goals in the third period for the comeback. While on a two-man advantage, Phil Varone found Jason Akeson in the slot who blasted a shot over the glove of Bibeau and just under the cross bar. The goal was Akeson’s 15th of the year just 2:40 into the final period with Varone and Francis Perron taking the assists.
Just 17 seconds later, defenseman Ben Harpur skated across the blue line and wristed the puck towards the net that caught a body in front of the crease and rolled by Bibeau and over the goal line to pull the B-Sens back to a 4-3 deficit. Harpur’s tally was his second of the year with assists from McCormick and Paul at 2:57.
The flood gates opened when Akeson went top shelf again for his 16th of the year and second of the game to tie the game 4-4. Akeson’s goal came at 12:15 of the final period, unassisted.
McCormick helped put the B-Sens out front for the first and final time of the night. After an interception, McCormick’s bid was stopped but Paul slammed in the rebound for his 11th of the year and a 5-4 lead at 13:50 with assists from McCormick and Mike Blunden.
Chad Nehring made it a two-goal lead just 11 seconds later as he scored his fourth of the season to give the B-Sens a 6-4 advantage. Brandon Gormley recorded the lone assist on the goal at 14:01.
The Senators tacked on two more goals late in the game for a seven-goal third period and 8-4 win. Jack Rodewald scored his 17th of the year at 16:07 and Nehring potted his second of the game and fifth of the year at 18:26.
Driedger stopped 23 of 27 in the victory while Bibeau took the loss, stopping 26 of 33.

Marlies beat Moose
The Manitoba Moose (23-31-4-4) turned back the clock on Retro Jersey Day against the Toronto Marlies (31-25-4-1) on Sunday afternoon. The Moose opened the scoring in their 1996-97 throwback jerseys as Nelson Nogier’s point shot found its way through a crowd in front for the 1996-born player’s second goal of the season. Toronto tied the game just 1:14 later when Mike Sislo dug the puck off the side of the Moose net and forced it over the line. Manitoba regained the advantage on the powerplay courtesy of Brandon Tanev sneaking a shot past Antoine Bibeau at 15:38. Toronto had a quick reply again as Brett Findlay tallied on a two-on-one to put the score at 2-2 after one period.
The Marlies took their first lead of the game 2:57 into the second. Kerby Rychel called his own number on an odd-man rush and snapped a shot to the back of the net. Manitoba had a quick answer of its own at the 5:32 mark. With the Moose on the powerplay, Kevin Czuczman wired a shot off Bibeau’s pad and Patrice Cormier flicked the rebound into the goal on his backhand to tie the game 3-3. Eric Comrie made sure the score stayed that way with a jaw-dropping pair of saves late in the frame. The Moose held a 22-18 edge in shots as the teams went to the third tied.
Toronto pulled back in front seven minutes into the third off the stick of defenceman William Wrenn. Continuing the trend of fast responses, the Moose tied it up 3:08 later. Jimmy Lodge sent Ryan Olsen a step ahead of the defence and Olsen cut across the crease on a nice backhand finish to tie the game 4-4. The back-and-forth continued when Kerby Rychel was able to strike for the Marlies on the powerplay with 7:35 left in the third. The Moose came within inches of tying the contest late, but Brenden Kichton’s shot went bar down and out with 1:15 remaining. The hosts couldn’t find a way to tie the game as Toronto came away with the 5-4 win.

Nylander scores in final minute to lift Amerks over Marlies
ROCHESTER, NY – For the sixth time this season, the Rochester Americans (24-32-0-2) defeated the North Division rival Toronto Marlies (30-25-4-1) with a 4-3 victory Wednesday night in the third of a four-game homestand at The Blue Cross Arena.
Rookie forward Alexander Nylander sealed the second straight win for the Amerks as he potted his eighth goal of the campaign with just 1:20 left in contest after assisting on the game-tying goal earlier in the third period. Cole Schneider recorded a pair of assists for his team-leading 14th multi-point of the year while Derek Grant scored his first goal as an Amerk and first since Mar. 26 of last season as a member of the Stockton Heat. Mac Bennett opened the scoring on the night with his third of the season while Jean Dupuy netted his second of the slate. Goaltender Linus Ullmark improved his record to 22-21-1 after making 18 saves on the night in his 16th start over the last 18 games for Rochester.
The Marlies were led by third-year veteran Kerby Rychel as he scored his 13th goal of the season to go along with an assist while Mike Sislo and Kasperi Kapanen rounded out the scoring. Antoine Bibeau got the nod in the cage for Toronto and stopped 28 of 32 but took the loss.
After the Marlies took their only lead of the contest just 22 seconds into the final period, the Amerks responded with a pair of goals for the 4-3 victory. With the win, Rochester improves to 6-1-0-1 against Toronto this season and closed out home portion of the season series with a near-perfect 4-0-0-1 record with just two games remaining between the two teams.
With the Amerks trailing 3-2, Grant received an outlet pass as he slipped behind a Marlies defender and was unable to fire a shot off but drew a delayed penalty. Nylander, however, joined the play and tucked behind the net before centering a pass towards the cage that Grant converted for his first of the season to knot the game with 14:34 left to play.
“It’s been a while,” said Grant when talking about his goal. “I switched sticks prior to the third period, so maybe that is something I should have done back in October. Scoring the goal was good but it is even better to get the win.”
As the contest was nearing its conclusion, it appeared the two clubs were heading for overtime, but Nylander ended any thought of an extra session as he picked up a loose puck at the Marlies blueline. As Schneider tied up the Toronto defenseman, he poked the puck towards open space, allowing the Amerks rookie to pick it up in stride and fire home the game-winning tally with 80 seconds showing on the third-period clock.
“I came onto the ice from the bench,” said Nylander. “I saw ‘Schneids’ tie up his guy and Cole gave me a pass. I went one-on-one, so I just shot the puck and hoped it went in and it did. I feel as a line with Schneider and Grant we got better and better throughout the game. We have been working hard lately and it paid off tonight.”
The Amerks opened the scoring on the night when Matt Lane, who was recalled earlier in the day from the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL, won a face-off and kicked the puck to Bennett. The defenseman-turned-forward wristed the puck towards the cage and it bounced off the arm of Bibeau just 1:45 into the contest. “Mac stepped up tonight, not only with his goal, but playing forward,” said Amerks head coach Dan Lambert. “It is something he has done for us this season and he always gives great effort each game he plays and certainly did tonight as well.”

Maple Leafs recall goaltender Jhonas Enroth
The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has recalled goaltender Jhonas Enroth from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) while forwards Byron Froese and Frederik Gauthier, as well as goaltender Antoine Bibeau, have been loaned to the Marlies.
Enroth, 28, owns a 0-3-1 record with a 3.94 goals against average and a .872 save percentage in six appearances with the Maple Leafs in 2016-17. Enroth registered 24 saves in one previous appearance with the Marlies, a 5-3 win over Hartford on December 10.
Froese, 25, played two games with the Maple Leafs after being recalled from the Marlies on December 21. He has registered 17 points (12 goals, five assists) in 26 games with the Marlies this season.
Gauthier, 21, recorded two points, including his first NHL goal, in three games with the Maple Leafs after being recalled from the Marlies on December 19. He has collected four points (one goal, three assists) in 16 games with the Marlies this season.
Bibeau, 22, has posted a 7-6-2 record, a 2.48 goals against average, a .910 save percentage and three shutouts in 15 games with the Marlies this season. He made 26 saves in his NHL debut against Colorado on December 11.

Marlies defeat Sound Tigers for 2-0 series lead
BRIDGEPORT, CT – The Toronto Marlies are one step closer to clinching the Calder Cup.
The Marlies took a 2-0 series lead over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in their 2016 American Hockey League first round playoff series on Sunday with a 3-0 victory.
Connor Brown and Ben Smith scored for the Marlies. Brown scored twice in the game.
Game three will be in Toronto on Thursday at 7:30pm ET.
The Marlies took a 2-0 series lead over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in their 2016 American Hockey League first round playoff series on Sunday with a 3-0 victory.

Toronto Marlies forward Richard Clune missed Sunday's game against Syracuse due to a suspension.
The American Hockey League Sunday announced that Toronto Marlies left wing Richard Clune had been suspended for one game as a consequence of his actions in a game vs. Syracuse on January 2.
Clune received an automatic one-game suspension under the provisions of AHL Rule 23.3 for accumulating his third game misconduct in the “general” category this season.

Leafs send Bibeau and Arcobello back to the Marlies

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs loaned goaltender Antoine Bibeau and forward Mark Arcobello to their American Hockey League affiliate on Sunday.
Bibeau has a 10-4-0 record with the Toronto Marlies this season
along with a 3.20 goals-against average and .889 save percentage. The 21-year-old netminder has yet to make his NHL debut.
Arcobello, who has played in nine games with the Maple Leafs, has 27 points (12 goals, 15 assists) with the Marlies this season.
Clune will miss Sunday's game against the Crunch at Ricoh Coliseum.

Bibeau, Clune reassigned to Marlies (AHL) by Maple Leafs

Goaltender Antoine Bibeau and forward Rich Clune were reassigned to the American Hockey League by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Bibeau hasn't appeared in any games for the Maple Leafs so far this season. In 13 appearances for the AHL's Toronto Marlies, the 21-year-old is 9-3-0 with a .883 save percentage and 3.38 goals-against average.
Clune is pointless in two games with the Maple Leafs this year. The Toronto native has 12 points in 22 games with the Marlies.
