MacKINNON, RANTANEN AND LANDESKOG RECORD SINGLE-GAME CAREER HIGHS

Nathan MacKinnon (1-4—5) and Mikko Rantanen (1-3—4) established career highs for points in a game and Gabriel Landeskog (3-0—3) scored the first hat trick of his NHL career to lead the Avalanche to a 6-1-1 record in home contests this season.

* Elias notes that MacKinnon (22 years, 76 days) became the youngest Avalanche player to record five points in a game since Paul Stastny (21 years, 347 days) on Dec. 9, 2007 vs. STL. Overall, MacKinnon became the fourth different Avalanche player to accomplish the feat since 2006-07.

LIGHTNING, MAPLE LEAFS EXTEND WIN STREAKS

The Lightning (15-2-2, 32 points) and Maple Leafs (13-7-0, 26 points) earned victories to extend their respective win streaks:

* Steven Stamkos (2-2—4) and Nikita Kucherov (1-2—3) combined for 3-4—7 to guide the League-leading Lightning to their fifth consecutive win. Stamkos extended his point streak to five games (4-7—11) and leads the NHL with 10-25—35 overall this season (19 GP), while Kucherov also extended his point streak to five games (4-8—12), including scoring his League-leading 17th goal of the season (19 GP). Andrei Vasilevskiy made 27 saves to improve to 14-1-1 this season (2.24 GAA, .932 SV%, 1 SO); he leads all goaltenders with 14 wins in 2017-18, three more than the next-closest netminders (Frederik Andersen and Matt Murray: 11).

* William Nylander scored the only goal of the contest with 2.2 seconds remaining in overtime to power the Maple Leafs to their fifth straight victory. Elias notes that Nylander became the second player in Maple Leafs history to score the only goal of a regular-season game in overtime, joining Miroslav Frycer on Oct. 11, 1984 at MNS. Frederik Andersen turned aside all 42 shots he faced – including eight in overtime – to record his second shutout of the season and improve to 11-6-0 overall (3.04 GAA, .909 SV%, 2 SO), including four straight wins.

LUONGO RECORDS 74TH CAREER SHUTOUT

Roberto Luongo turned aside all 35 shots he faced to record the 74th shutout of his NHL career and backstop the Panthers to victory. Luongo moved within two shutouts of tying Tony Esposito and Ed Belfour for ninth on the NHL’s all-time list among goaltenders.
DOWN BUT NOT OUT

Several clubs rallied from multi-goal deficits to secure wins on Thursday:

* Winnipeg overcame a 2-0 deficit – including scoring a game-tying goal with 48.4 seconds remaining in regulation – and Bryan Little netted the decisive marker in the shootout to lift the Jets to a 7-1-1 record in their last nine contests. Patrik Laine collected an assist to extend his point streak to seven games (5-2—7).

* The Wild faced deficits of 3-0 and 4-2 before scoring four unanswered goals to earn their fourth consecutive victory and snap the Predators’ win streak at five games. Jason Zucker (1-0—1) extended his goal streak to five games (8-0—8), one shy of the longest such run in franchise history set by Brian Rolston from Jan. 21 – Feb. 5, 2008 (6-1—7 in 6 GP).

* Arizona overcame deficits of 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 before Christian Fischer (1-1—2) scored the go-ahead goal with 9:50 remaining in regulation to power the Coyotes past the Canadiens. Elias notes that the Coyotes overcame three separate deficits of at least one goal and won for the first time since March 4, 2013 vs. ANA (5-4 SO W).

SEVERAL PLAYERS EXTEND POINT STREAKS
In addition to Stamkos, Kucherov, Laine and Zucker, several other players extended lengthy point streaks:

* Kings captain Anze Kopitar (0-1—1) extended his career-high point streak to 10 games (3-9—12), the longest active point streak in the NHL and longest such run by a Kings player since Dustin Brown in 2011-12 (5-10—15 in 10 GP).

* Brayden Schenn collected 2-1—3 to extend his point streak to six games (4-10—14) and help the Blues improve to 14-5-1 (29 points) this season, the best record in the Western Conference.

* David Perron (1-1—2) extended his point streak to six games (2-7—9) to power the Golden Knights to an 11-6-1 (23 points) record this season.
