Eight different skaters had multi-point efforts, led by a pair of goals and three point from Stelio Mattheos (Carolina Hurricanes), as the Brandon Wheat Kings’ offence exploded against the Swift Current Broncos in their fifth-straight victory.
Logan Thompson held things together on the backend, making 38 saves on 41 shots.Cole Reinhardt added a goal and two assists, while Ty Lewis (Colorado Avalanche), Connor Gutenberg and Zach Wytinck each contributed a goal and an assist.
Kale Clague (Los Angeles Kings), Gunnar Wegleitner and Schael Higson each had a pair of assists.
The Wheat Kings jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Broncos reeled off three straight goals, tying up the game after 20 minutes and then going ahead early in the second period.
Captain Glenn Gawdin (Calgary Flames), Conner Chaulk and Tyler Steenbergen (Arizona Coyotes) helped put the team ahead with WHL points leader Aleksi Heponiemi (Florida Panthers) recording a pair of assists to maintain his one-point advantage over Steenbergen, who finished with a goal and an assist.
From there on out, it was all Wheat Kings. Wytinck scored his first career WHL goal, followed goals from Mattheos and Evan Weinger to give Brandon the lead after 40 minutes.
In the third, Reinhardt and Mattheos scored to round out the beatdown.
Logan Flodell had a rare off-game, stopping 29 of 36 shots for just his fourth regulation loss of the season.
Regina Pats (2) at Everett Silvertips (1)

The Regina Pats scored a much-needed victory Sunday in Everett against the Silvertips as they continued their road trip through the Pacific Northwest.
Tyler Brown stopped 38 shots, Josh Mahura (Anaheim Ducks) had a pair of assists and Jake Leschyshyn (Vegas Golden Knights) scored the game-winner tow minutes into the third period to top the Tips Sunday.
Robbie Holmes scored his fifth of the season 11:47 into the game, which ended up being the only goal after 40 minutes. Leschyshyn scored his fifth of the season 2:19 into the third while Patrick Bajkov scored late to make things interesting.
Sam Steel (Anaheim Ducks) picked up an assist while the birthday boy Cale Fleury (Montreal Canadiens) recorded his second point with his new club.
Kevin Davis and Jake Christiansen assisted on Everett’s lone goal of the game.
Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers) did well to limit the Pats to two goals, making 48 saves in the game.
