Preview: Sharks at Islanders

SHARKS (2-1-0) at ISLANDERS (1-2-0)

7 p.m. ET; MSG+, CSN-CA, NHL.TV

Sharks team scope

Goalie Aaron Dell, 27, is expected to make his NHL debut after Martin Jones allowed five goals on 27 shots in San Jose's 7-4 loss at the New York Rangers on Monday. Dell went 17-16-6 with a 2.42 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in 40 games with the San Jose Barracuda of the American Hockey League last season. The Sharks went 1-for-4 on the power play Monday and are 3-for-12 this season. "They [the Rangers] were a good team [Tuesday] too," defenseman Brent Burns said Monday. "Our power play's got to get us one. We've just got to get in the zone and start doing what we do. I think it's just poise, doing what we usually do. We've just got to find it. We've got to work, communicate. I think those are the little things that we're making other teams look better."

Islanders team scope

Center Casey Cizikas participated in the morning skate Tuesday and should be able to play. Cizikas was struck on the side of his leg with a slap shot by Anaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler on Sunday and did not play in the third period. "That night after it happened, the pain didn't really go away. It was kind of maintaining the level where it first hit me," Cizikas said. "It was a little worrisome at the start, but the trainers have done a great job of helping me get better and making it feel up to par where I can go out there and contribute to the team and not put anybody at risk."

"You don't want a guy to sit for a long period of time because he's a big part of our team, and I understand it's a tough situation for him," Capuano said. "At the same time, with the three guys that we have, we're going to have to sit down and look at the situation and try to get him in as well."
