Anze Kopitar becomes captain of the Kings

LOS ANGELES, CA Los Angeles Kings president and general manager Dean Lombardi announced today that center Anze Kopitar has become the team's 14th captain in franchise history.

Kopitar takes over the role of Dustin Brown, who had been captain of the NHL franchise since 2008.

Kopitar led the Kings in scoring for a record-setting ninth consecutive season, totaling 25 goals and 49 assists for 74 points in 81 regular season games.  He added an additional two goals and two assists in five post-season games during the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
