TORONTO -- The Toromto Maple Leafs on Wednesday placed defenseman Jared Cowe. on waivers, likely for the purpose of a buyout.
A buyout would credit the Maple Leafs $650,000 in cap in 2016-17, cost $750,000 in 2017-18.
Cowen posted four assists, a plus-minus rating of 7 and 16 penalty minutes in 37 games played with the Ottawa Senators this season. He was acquired by the Maple Leafs oh Feb. 9, 2016.
