EHLERS SCORES NATURAL HAT TRICK, LEADS JETS TO FIRST WIN

With the score tied 2-2, Nikolaj Ehlers (3-1—4) scored three consecutive goals to record his second career hat trick and lead the Jets to their first win of the season. Ehlers became the third player in Jets/Thrashers history to record a natural hat trick, joining Ilya Kovalchuk on Nov. 11, 2005 vs. TBL and Marian Hossa on Jan. 15, 2008 at DET (both w/ ATL).

* Ehlers became the fifth different player to net a hat trick through the first six days of the 2017-18 season.

FLAMES EARN FIRST WIN IN ANAHEIM SINCE 2004

Mike Smith denied all 43 shots he faced to earn his first shutout in a Calgary uniform and backstop the Flames to a 2-0 win over the Ducks. The Flames earned their first regular-season road win vs. ANA since Jan. 19, 2004 (5-1 W), snapping a 25-game slide (0-20-5) to end the longest such skid versus one opponent in NHL history.

MAPLE LEAFS, BLUES IMPROVE TO 3-0-0

The Maple Leafs and Blues each secured victories on Monday to improve to 3-0-0 to start the 2017-18 campaign:

* The Maple Leafs overcame a 3-1 deficit in the third period and Auston Matthews scored at 3:43 of overtime to power Toronto to a 3-0-0 record for the first time since 2013-14. The Maple Leafs lead the NHL with 19 goals in 2017-18, their second-highest total through the first three games of a season in franchise history (27 in 1917-18).

* The Blues saw their 2-0 lead erased in the third period, but Brayden Schenn and Vladimir Tarasenko (2-0—2) each scored in the shootout to lead St. Louis to a 3-0-0 record for the second straight season. Jake Allen made 40 saves through 65 minutes and denied both Islanders shooters.

BRATT, JOHANSSON GUIDE DEVILS TO VICTORY

Jesper Bratt and Marcus Johansson each collected 2-1—3 to guide the Devils to a 6-2 victory. Bratt, who registered 1-1—2 in his League debut on Saturday, became the first player in franchise history to record five points through the first two games of his NHL career and just the fifth on any team to do so in the past 17 seasons.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS SET TO HOST HOME OPENER AT T-MOBILE ARENA

The Golden Knights will host the Coyotes tonight in the first-ever NHL regular-season game at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. After beginning 2017-18 with road victories in Dallas and Arizona, Vegas returns home aiming to become the first team in the League’s 100-year history to begin its inaugural season with three straight wins.

* Expansion teams own an 8-12-5 record in home debuts (since 1967-68), including a 0-5-1 clip in the last six such contests. The Senators and Lightning were the last expansion teams to win their first home opener (both in 1992-93).

* The Lightning hold the NHL record for most goals by an expansion team in its home debut (since 1967-68), posting a 7-3 victory – highlighted by a four-goal performance from Chris Kontos – against the Blackhawks on Oct. 7, 1992 (box score).

Some other highlights include:

* The NHL Centennial Fan Arena will be stationed in Toshiba Plaza from 2-10 p.m. PT to celebrate the Golden Knights’ inaugural home opener and centennial year of the NHL.

* Fans will be able to witness Golden Knights players, coaches and management arriving at T-Mobile Arena and walking a gold carpet. The gold carpet will start at Toshiba Plaza going into T-Mobile Arena, with arrivals beginning at 3:30 p.m. PT.

* There will be a fan march from New York-New York Hotel to the front doors of the arena. The march, which will feature special fan engagement activities, will start underneath the Brooklyn Bridge at 4:45 p.m. PT and conclude at Toshiba Plaza for a brief ceremony before the doors open at 5 p.m.
