Rangers, Islanders battling for second in Metro division standings

It is very clear that the Washington Capitals are going to end the season first in the Metropolitan Division standings, they may even win the President's Trophy.

But that doesn't mean that the team's below the Capitals in the divisor can't battle it out.

The New York Rangers and the New York Islanders are fighting for second in the division's standings.

The Rangers are three points ahead of the Islanders with 88 points, but the Islanders do have two games in hand.

With the Rangers' victory against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, and their overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday, the team is pulling away fom the Islanders, who lost in regulation to the Nashville Predators on Thursday.
