DUCKS 3, KINGS 2
LOS ANGELES (AP) — David Perron scored the go-ahead power-play goal in the second period and the surging Anaheim Ducks earned their 11th consecutive victory, beating the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 on Saturday and taking over sole possession of the Pacific Division lead from their Southern California rivals.
The Ducks trailed the Kings by as many as 16 points on Jan. 20. Anaheim has gone 18-1-1 since and Los Angeles 9-9-1. The teams each have 18 games left, including one more matchup on April 7 at Los Angeles.
The Ducks, trying to win a fourth straight division title, lead the season series 3-1 and have won 11 of the past 14 regular-season meetings overall — including a 4-2 victory last Sunday at Honda Center.
Ryan Kesler and Jacob Silfverberg also scored for Anaheim and Frederik Andersen made 32 saves in his first start against the Kings this season, helping Bruce Boudreau earn his 400th regular-season coaching victory.
LIGHTNING 4, HURRICANES 3, OT
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Alex Killorn scored with 42.5 seconds left on the clock in overtime as the Tampa Bay Lightning won a team-record ninth straight game by beating the Carolina Hurricanes.
Ondrej Palat had two goals for the Lightning, who broke the old mark of eight wins in a row from 2004 when Tampa Bay won its lone Stanley Cup. Tyler Johnson had the other Tampa Bay goal, tying the score at 3 with 6:18 remaining in regulation.
Carolina got goals from Victor Rask, Jordan Staal and Jeff Skinner.
PREDATORS 5, AVALANCHE 2
DENVER (AP) — Mike Fisher broke a tie with 9:44 remaining in a four-goal third period, Pekka Rinne stopped 34 shots and Nashville ran its streak to 12 straight games with at least a point by beating Colorado.
The Predators haven't lost in regulation since Feb. 9 as they improve to 8-0-4 during the streak.
James Neal tied the game 62 seconds into the final period, Fisher took advantage of Colorado's inability to clear the puck by knocking a shot past Calvin Pickard.
Shea Weber and Miikka Salomaki added empty-netters. Filip Forsberg's second-period goal was his 18th since New Year's Day.
Blake Comeau and Gabriel Landeskog scored for the Avalanche.
FLAMES 4, PENGUINS 2
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Mikael Backlund scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Lance Bouma added another in the third and Calgary ended a seven-game losing streak with a win against Pittsburgh.
Backlund scored his 13th and Bouma his second of the season. Joe Colborne scored his 11th and Mark Giordano his 16th for the Flames, who won in Pittsburgh for the first time in more than a decade.
Joni Ortio stopped 29 shots for his first win in nine games this season.
Sidney Crosby scored both goals for Pittsburgh and has 28 on the season.
WILD 3, SABRES 2, SO
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Jason Pominville scored in the fourth round of the shootout to give Minnesota a victory over Buffalo.
Charlie Coyle also scored in the shootout, Mikko Koivu and David Jones had regulation goals, and Devan Dubnyk made 30 saves for the Wild, who won their fourth straight.
Rookie center Jack Eichel scored his 19th goal of the season and had an assist for the Sabres. He also added a goal in the shootout. Johan Larsson also had a goal and Robin Lehner made 28 saves.
JETS 4, CANADIENS 2
WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Mark Scheifele's first career hat trick lifted the Winnipeg Jets over the Montreal Canadiens.
Scheifele's empty-netter late in the third period completed his three-goal performance and helped snap Winnipeg's six-game home winless streak.
Rookie Andrew Copp had his third goal of the season for the Jets.
Alex Galchenyuk scored twice for Montreal, which dropped its fourth straight game.
CAPITALS 2, BRUINS 1, OT
BOSTON (AP) — Matt Niskanen scored in overtime and backup Philipp Grubauer stopped 33 shots to lead the Washington Capitals past the Boston Bruins.
Niskanen's goal on a slapper from the blue line beat Tuukka Rask 2:36 into overtime. Karl Alzner also scored for Washington, which lost 3-2 to the New York Rangers on Friday night. The first-place Capitals have lost back-to-back games just twice this season.
Rask made 28 saves for the Bruins, who had won two straight and four of five. Patrice Bergeron scored Boston's only goal.
SENATORS 3, MAPLE LEAFS 2
TORONTO (AP) — Zack Smith scored the go-ahead goal with 2:15 remaining and the Ottawa Senators won in Dion Phaneuf's return to Toronto, defeating the Maple Leafs.
The Senators have now won three straight against the Maple Leafs, and avoided a third straight loss overall. Bobby Ryan and Marc Methot had the other goal for Ottawa, while Andrew Hammond picked up his fourth win of the season by making 41 saves.
Phaneuf, who spent parts of seven seasons with the Leafs, was honored with a video tribute in the first period. He was dealt to Ottawa on Feb. 9.
Rookies William Nylander and Nikita Soshnikov scored for the Maple Leafs.
FLYERS 6, BLUE JACKETS 0
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Radko Gudas scored one of his two goals from 91 feet and added two assists, and Steve Mason made 19 saves in his return to the net in the Philadelphia Flyers' rout of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Michael Raffl, Claude Giroux, Sam Gagner and Nick Cousins also scored for the Flyers, who moved within three points of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Blue Jackets, playing the second game of a back-to-back that began with Friday's 6-3 home win over Edmonton, allowed a goal on the Flyers' first shot and never recovered.
Mason, who watched from the bench as backup Michal Neuvirth made the last five starts and seven of eight, earned his fourth shutout this season and 30th of his career.
COYOTES 5, PANTHERS 1
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Alex Tanguay scored two goals and added an assist in his Coyotes debut, Antoine Vermette had a goal and three assists and Arizona ended a season-high seven-game losing streak.
Shane Doan and Jordan Martinook also scored for Arizona, and Louis Domingue stopped 32 shots.
Aaron Ekblad scored the lone goal for Florida at 17:28 of the second period.
CANUCKS 4, SHARKS 2
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Dan Hamhuis scored Vancouver's third power-play goal midway through the third period and Jacob Markstrom robbed San Jose twice in the final 20 minutes to help the Canucks beat the Sharks.
Linden Vey and Daniel Sedin also scored power-play goals and Alexandre Burrows sealed it with an empty-netter for the Canucks. Markstrom made 32 saves, including highlight-reel stops against Tomas Hertl and Patrick Marleau in the third to help Vancouver win its fifth straight in San Jose.
The Canucks also lost star Henrik Sedin to an upper-body injury in the first period.
Michael Haley and Brent Burns scored for the Sharks, and James Reimer made 22 saves in his San Jose debut.
