PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have signed free agent forward Roman Lyubimov to an entry-level contract, according to general manager Ron Hextall.
The Tver, Russia native spent the last six seasons in the KHL with CSKA Moscow and recorded new career highs this past season with 14 points (7g-7a) in 52 games.
The 6'2, 207 pounder posted eight points (4g-4a) in 15 playoff games to help lead Moscow to the KHL’s Gagarin Cup Finals where they lost in seven games to Metallurg.
Lyubimov was on Russia’s World Championship team this past May where he recorded four goals and eight points in just 10 games during the tournament to help led Russia to a bronze medal.
In parts of six seasons in the KHL, the undraftee has recorded 34 points (15g-19a) in 185 regular season games and 14 points (8g-6a) in 39 postseason games.
In 138 games playing junior hockey in Russia, Lyubimov recorded 52 goals and 110 points.
