Habs sign Danault to two-year extension

MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with forward Phillip Danault.

Danault first joined the Habs organization during the 2015-16 campaign as part of a trade that saw Dale Weise and Tomas Fleischmann head back to the Chicago Blackhawks in return. Danault appeared in 21 games with the Habs last season, collecting three goals and adding another two assists.

The Victoriaville, Quebec,  native, who has suited up for 53 games in his NHL career, has amassed a total of four goals and six assists to date. Drafted by the Blackhawks with the 26th overall selection in 2011, Danault will be entering his sixth season of professional hockey next campaign.
