Anaheim Ducks forward Rickard Rakell will need two weeks to recover after having surgery to remove scar tissue resulting from an appendectomy.
Rakell, 23, was hospitalized in Sweden after he was scratched by Team Sweden from a World Cup of Hockey 2016 pretournament game against Team Finland on Sept. 10. He had an assist in 13:47 of ice time in a pretournament game Sept. 8.
Rakell, a restricted free agent, had 20 goals and 23 assists in 72 regular-season games, and a goal and an assist in seven Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Ducks last season.
Anaheim starts its training camp this month.
