Forsberg scored three goals during a 14-minute span to start the second period, leading the Predators to their fourth straight win.

Forsberg has a team-high 26 goals, including 12 in February. He posted his first career hat trick in Tuesday's 3-2 win at Toronto. Linemate Craig Smith scored the Predators' first goal and Colin Wilson scored the fifth. Predators center Mike Ribeiro posted three assists, giving the playmaker 36 for the season.

Rinne became the fifth active goalie to record 40 career shutouts.

Nathan MacKinnon, Tyson Barrie and Alex Tanguay had goals for the Avalanche in the first NHL outdoor game in Colorado.

The temperature was an unseasonably balmy 65 degrees at puck drop. The previous warmest game-time temperature in an NHL regular-season outdoor game was 62 degrees on Jan. 25, 2014, when Los Angeles hosted Anaheim at Dodger Stadium.

Kris Letang also scored for the Penguins, who had Malkin back in the lineup after the 2012 NHL MVP missed 10 games with a lower-body injury. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 shots for his 25th win.

The Penguins won their 15th straight home game against Winnipeg, the NHL's second-longest streak against any opponent. The Jets haven't won in Pittsburgh since Dec. 27, 2006, when they were known as the Atlanta Thrashers.

Blake Wheeler scored his 18th of the season for the Jets, who have lost six of their last eight games.

KINGS 2, SABRES 0

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Backup goalie Jhonas Enroth made 23 saves, Tanner Pearson scored twice and the Los Angeles Kings overcame two disallowed goals to beat the Buffalo Sabres.

The Kings got their fourth straight victory and increased their Pacific Division lead to four points over Anaheim. Los Angeles faces the Ducks on Sunday.
