A trade occurred between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday.
The Maple Leafs acquired the Avalanche’s fourth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and forward Colin Smith in exchange for forward Shawn Matthias.
Matthias has six goals and eleven assists in 51 games for the Maple Leafs this season, while Smith has 13 goals and 21 assists in 54 games for the Avalanche's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, this season.
